As a group we are also part of the Linnaeus University Centre for Data Intensive Sciences and Applications (DISA) where we contribute and collaborate through the Data Intensive Astroparticle Physics Group (DIAP) and of the Data Intelligence Institute of Paris.
The two centres address data-driven methods to gain deeper knowledge and understanding in a variety of applications in engineering, science and humanities and therefore are cross-faculty meeting points.
Our research activities in gamma-ray astronomy require intensive Monte Carlo simulations, the use and optimization of machine learning algorithms, the development of analysis methods, and extremely efficient data handling.
As a group, we are specialized in supervised learning for classification and regression through Boosted Decision Trees and Neural Networks. We also work with Data Visualization through t-SNE and UMAP, and on applications of Deep Learning and Generative Adversarial Networks.
